Monday, April 9, 2012

The day was August 10, 2009 when Truman VA celebrated the groundbreaking for the new operating room (OR) suites.

Almost three years later, the VA medical center will showcase the new OR to staff and the public on Friday, April 13. An Open House is scheduled between 2:00-4:00 pm. Tours will be given and refreshments will be served.

The project replaces the existing 40 year-old OR suites. There have been no significant renovations to the noted area since the facility opened in 1972.

The new space will include an endovascular suite, two cardiothoracic rooms, three general rooms, a cystoscopy room, and an 8-bed post-anesthesia care unit.

The renovated space will include a pre-operative preparation area, two minor procedure rooms, a surgery waiting area, and a urology clinic. Infrastructure deficiencies with electrical systems, HVAC systems and space allocations will be corrected, which will improve work flow and efficiencies.
