Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital
Women Veterans Program: Find out more
Women are the fastest growing group within the Veteran population. Did you know Truman VA has a Women Veterans Program? We serve more than 1,500 women at our medical center in Columbia and our seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Women come to us for primary care, specialty care, including coordination of reproductive services, rehabilitation, mental health and treatment for military sexual trauma. Our staff carefully listens to the needs of our female patients and our team works to ensure that their health care needs are met.
Meet Cindy: Our Women Veterans Program Manager, Cindy Stivers, is an important point of contact for women Veterans. Cindy, who is also a Veteran, uses Truman VA for her care. She is new to Truman VA, but comes to us with a wealth of experience in assisting and advocating for women Veterans. She previously worked as the Women Veterans Coordinator for the Missouri Veterans Commission. Cindy's role at Truman VA is to assist women Veterans in the coordination of care.
Meet Dr. Teter: Jessica Teter, MD serves as the Director of the Women's Health Care Services at Truman VA. Dr. Teter works on the Red Team at Truman VA and co-chairs our Women's Health Committee. Dr. Teter is the clinical lead for our women's health care services and works closely with providers in the community to ensure coordination of care including reproductive health care services.
We want our women Veterans to feel at home at Truman VA. Each year, Truman VA holds special events inviting our female patients, women Veterans who have not yet enrolled at VA and newly returning women Veterans. Truman VA’s Women Veterans Program has coordinated luncheons, health fairs and guest speakers in the past. Watch our website for future event information.
