Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital
Thank You Volunteers
April 10-16 is National Volunteer Week! Truman VA Volunteers really make a big difference every day for our patients, visitors and staff. Last year alone, volunteers provided 57,641 hours at Truman VA and our Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Truman VA Volunteers are found in a number of areas around the medical center. You probably saw volunteers answering questions at the information desk. Perhaps a volunteer visited your room with the cheer cart. Maybe a volunteer served you a cup of coffee while you were waiting for an appointment. Truman VA volunteers give their time for a wide range of activities including driving patients to the medical center. Last year, the Volunteer Transportation Network drivers drove 354,000 miles bringing Veterans to and from their clinical appointments. In addition, Patient Transport volunteers escorted 18,446 patients throughout the medical center last year.
Needless to say, our volunteers are invaluable to Truman VA and to our Veterans. You will find our friendly volunteers around the medical center wearing a red vest. Join us and thank them for all they do.
