Many of us know the benefits of practicing safe sex, such as reducing your risk of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and unintended pregnancies.  Many Veterans also know that using condoms is a great way to practice safe sex.  But, did you know that you don’t have to go to a retail store to get them?  You can get both male and female condoms through the mail from the VA pharmacy with NO co-pay… and then you can use your MyHealtheVet account to order refills.  That means no waiting in line, no check-out, and NO COST TO YOU!

Veterans can get one box of 12 plain latex condoms per month… with up to 11 refills over a year.  Non-latex condoms are available for those who have allergies, but just require some additional paperwork by your Provider.  The female condom is also available to Veterans.  These come in boxes of 6; you can get 2 boxes (or 12 condoms) per month with refills for one year. Male and female Veterans can be prescribed any type of condom, as best suits their individual prevention needs.  Interested?  Talk with your VA Primary Care Provider today!
