During the holiday season, many think of traditions and spreading cheer.  Truman VA's Employee Association has a seven year holiday tradition-- sponsoring local families in need.  This year, the Employee Association collected gifts for 21 Veteran families through the Voluntary Action Center.

Each family identified by the Voluntary Action Center creates a wish list.  The list includes details, such as sizes and interests, to help personalize the donation.  Many items requested include household items, clothing and a few special gifts for the children.  This year’s collection included bicycles, household items, games, toys, clothing, gift cards for food, fishing poles, and many other items.

Donations were taken to the Voluntary Action Center last week for delivery to the families.  Libby Klaus coordinated Truman VA's 2011 holiday drive.  Libby remarks, "Truman VA's Employee Association has been honored to help support this cause.  I was humbled at the response from our staff to bring joy to each and every family."

Thank you to Truman VA's Employee Association for your efforts to make the holidays a little brighter for these local families.
