Be Physically Active
Did you know that less than half of U.S. adults get enough physical activity?
Physical activity helps people enjoy longer and happier lives. You can start in as little as 30 minutes per day, which can be done all at once or in 10 minute intervals. To begin, the only thing you need to do is get your body moving. Start at a level that is comfortable.
You do not have to join a gym, buy fancy equipment, or work out for hours to be physically active. It can be as simple as adding extra steps each day. Try parking your car in the back of the parking lot when going to the grocery store, doctor appointments, or doing other errands. When the level of physical activity seems easy, add a little more activity each time. You should begin to feel stronger and more energetic once you start exercising regularly and physical activity will get easier.
Do not forget to congratulate yourself on your efforts. Every little bit is great progress and will allow you to do more!

- Help the body maintain healthy muscles, bones, and joints
- Improves overall mood and can reduce the feelings of anxiety and depression
- Helps keep the mind sharp and improves memory
- Increases your energy and stamina
So why aren’t more people getting off the couch and moving? The number one reason people say they do not exercise is “I don’t have TIME.” Findings suggest that it is not the amount of time people have, but the amount of time they THINK they have. When you make physical activity a priority, you will find the time. There are 1440 minutes in each day, can you spare 30 minutes of them to make your health a priority?
