On Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, Truman VA and other local Veteran Service Organizations hosted a Women Veterans event at the Elks Lodge in Columbia with the support of several Veteran Service Organizations and other area businesses.  More than 75 Women Veterans from around the state gathered for a weekend honoring their service to our country.
Attendees participated in various activities during the two-day event:

  • Friday: Friday evening Women Veterans gathered for a social hour and piano entertainment.
  • Saturday: Saturday was an all-day event.  Throughout the day, Women Veterans heard informative presentations on Veteran Benefits, VA Treatment Programs and various other topics from local businesses and vendors. The keynote speaker was Donna Pavlick, Captain, USNR (Ret).  The day concluded with an appearance from the Mizzou Pershing Rifle Team saluting the Women Veterans for their service.

Truman VA’s Women Veterans Program Manager, Cindy Stivers, was thrilled with the weekend event.  "It was great to see so many Women Veterans together in one location sharing ideas, networking, learning benefits, and creating new friendships," said Cindy.
